KITENGELA HOT GLASS STUDIO.
Located about an hour’s drive from Nairobi city center. The studio overlooks the Nairobi National Park. Kitengela Hot Glass is an eco-friendly enterprise where, recycling meets art and functionality. They transform recycled glass into unique art pieces. They have a variety of products including; murals, glass vases, chandeliers and colorful glass mosaic. Here you will witness the making of unique handmade pieces that are 100% recycled and 100% Kenyan
Meet up at 0830 hrs. at the International House. You will get a short brief about the day. At 0930 hrs. depart. Drive along Langa’ta road to arrive at the studio at around 1030 hrs. The road leading to the studio is a bumpy one. You will notice mosaic images from afar leading you to the studio. Upon arrival you will be taken through the glass workshop and see how they get to do it everything is explained and if you want to buy some sculptures. You will be able to ask prices along the way. Proceed to Nani’s place just next. Here there is a mosaic designed swimming pool where you can take pictures and swim as you rest waiting to do the precarious bridge walking, other activities here include Camel and Horse riding and also a tour of the place. Proceed to the tiny pathway that leads to the bouncy, swaying suspension bridge above a deep river valley, which links Kitengela Glass to Silole Sanctuary. The experience of crossing this bridge may not appeal to all, but for those with an adventurous spirit, across the bridge awaits the neighboring Maasai Lodge where we will have lunch. After lunch we shall depart and head to Nairobi. Drop off at the International House.
